Kissing Tolstoy by Penny Reid

Kissing Tolstoy
Penny Reid

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Blurb:

Now a USA Today best-seller. What do you do when you discover your super-hot blind date from months ago is now your super-hot Russian lit professor? You overthink everything and pray for a swift end to your misery, of course! Kissing Tolstoy is the first audiobook in the Dear Professor series, and it can be listened to as a stand-alone. A shorter version of this story was entitled "Nobody Looks Good in Leather Pants" and was available via Penny Reid's newsletter for free over the course of 2017.

Surprisingly this is actually the first book I've ever read/listened to by Penny Reid. I've seen them around but never picked one up. Kissing Tolstoy was included in my audible plus program so I thought I'd give it a try. I really enjoyed it. It's a lighter romance. Anna is a college student and she's a bit of a nerd. She's like adorably nerdy. Luca is a Russian lit professor. A HOT Russian Lit professor. A chance meeting in the past has them both surprised when she ends up in his class. She's embarrassed, he's intrigued and a bit pissed off. Neither really knows how to handle it and that's where the whole story comes in.

I enjoyed that this was a shorter, lighter, sweet and funny romance. There were a couple of steamy scenes but not too many. Which I enjoy when I'm listening to books b/c it can get awkward while sitting at a red light. I also have to make sure of where I cut it off incase my truck accidentally connects to bluetooth at the wrong time. That ever happen to you guys? *cringe* Anna and Luca have a very great chemistry together and I love how they can debate back and forth. I love how passionate they can each get.

This is narrated by Fiona Fisher and Stephen Dexter. Both did a great job. Stephen could sound a little dry at times but I believe that Luca as a character was dry sometimes so it worked out well. The ending also has a sneak peek at another one of Penny's books (Attraction) that I was really getting into. I'll have to wait for my credits to renew on that one though b/c it's not included in Plus.

So overall, if you are looking for something that is short, sweet and has some humor in it, you should definitely give this a shot. Whether you listen to it or read it, you should add it to the list.

Taking a Break

Taking a break Hello! I randomly decided to come on here today and it looks like someone actually does visit this site on occasion. I feel like I owe it to you to let you know that I won't be posting any new reviews for a while. I've been really burnt out on reading for a while now and while I do still read every now and again, I just don't have the same passion about it. When I write a review for the blog, I feel it has to be more in depth and informative and I just don't have that in me right now. Also, the book world just disappoints me sometimes and I don't feel like I'm in the head space to give it my all. Anywho, if you are reading this, thank you for being around and supporting me for however long you've been here. I appreciate you. Maybe one day I will get back into it and start reading and reviewing again. In the meantime, I do still review the books I read on Amazon and Goodreads .

Reckless Thief by Heather Long

Reckless Thief, (82 Street Vandals) Heather Long ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazon / Goodreads Blurb: The mentor. The doctor. The Vandal. I grew up on the streets despite my older sister’s best efforts to keep my nose clean. I thought I knew better. I worked hard. and made money. Who cared if what I did was a little illegal? Then a little boy paid the price for my carelessness. A little boy and his baby sister. It was the wakeup call I needed, even if the cost came too high. Rough choices made for rough outcomes and when I had the chance to join the military or go to jail to get straight, I went to the military. I paid for my thoughtless actions by becoming deliberate. I paid for my greed by offering service. I paid for my chance at a better life with blood, sweat, and fire. That service left me scarred but determined. Medical school and training taught me I could continue to serve. I walked away from the streets, from the blood, the violence, and costs of doing business. Living a life I ...
