Blurb:

Welcome to the school for shifter rejects… Unwanted. Dismissed. Cast away by their mate, the renounced are directed to attend university together by the Pack Council to salvage what’s left of their shattered lives. The objective? Reform, impress, or get the hell out. There’s no room in the packs for wolves who don’t conform. Who can’t breed future heirs. With living feral, a.k.a. certain death, as the only alternative, the rejects need to win back their true mate before they’re banished from the packs forever. The Rejected Mate Academy series is an M/F wolf shifter romance. For news and announcements on this series, please join E. M. Moore’s Facebook group or subscribe to her newsletter.

I've been wanting to read a rejected mate book for a hot minute now. One of those reading apps that you get adds for on fb got me interested in a story, that of course I didn't get to finish b/c I'm not doing the app. Anywho, when I saw that E.M. had a new series about rejected mates, I was ecstatic!! I couldn't wait to see what she did with it and she did not disappoint. It was actually quite different than any other rejected mate books I've read which is always refreshing.

This new series is all standalones The first book, Untamed, focuses on Kinsey. Pack life was never easy for her. She never fit in and had been bullied her whole life. Kinsey is strong though and she found a way to deal with life. Until the one thing she never wanted to happen, happened. When she had her first shift, she found she did have a fated mate within her pack. Even worse, he and his family were security for the alpha. Oh but Jonah didn't even give Kinsey a chance. He rejected her and sent her straight to Greystone Academy. The place where rejected mates are sent to be reformed. If you can't win your mate back being there, you are cast out as feral. A shifters worst nightmare. While it may be a shock to her system, Kinsey actually settles in quickly at the academy, making her first real friend. Knowing what will happen if she fails, Kinsey searches deep and really tries to win her mate back. Even when she thinks he's a jerk face.

This story is told in Kinsey's POV. I would have loved to have had that second POV from Jonah but E.M. did a great job of giving us his feelings too. We get a great understanding of why he rejected Kinsey. While we may hate him at first, we do get to see things from his side and understand. He may have been a bit stubborn at first but he really shows up when needed. The chemistry between these two is what it should be between fated mates. A connection they can't deny. While there weren't too many hot and heavy scenes, we definitely get the opportunity to see the attraction between the two.

Now while we are spending time at the academy we meet some other rejected mates. We get tiny little snippits of their story too and you can't help but feel for them. I can't wait to see who is going to be our couple in the next book. Great job E.M. on this new series.
