The Sun Queen by Anita Maxwell

The Sun Queen, (The Royal Celestials Book 5)

Blurb:
The Hunt for the next True Queen of Regulus is upon us. I never wanted to be queen, yet I find myself swept up in the competition. I never wanted a man, yet I find myself distracted by three of them. I never wanted people's gratitude, yet they're cheering my name in the streets. Warrior. Defender. Diplomat. Leader. The four key qualities of the True Queen of Regulus. And I have to prove that I have them all. All I ever wanted was to become the Sergeant of the Watchers for the busiest district in Regulus -- Adhafera. But The Hunt has begun and the desert Queendom is running out of water. Hundreds of women enter and I unwillingly throw my name into the competition. The only other contender who has a chance of beating me is a known cheater. Now all I want is to become the True Queen of Regulus, blessed by Leo to rule, and to bring water to the people. If only Leo would give me his Mark. The Sun Queen is Book 5 in the Royal Celestials, a zodiac-based series, and represents Leo. This is a medium-burn fantasy reverse harem romance that can be read as a standalone.

This is the fifth book in The Royal Celestials series but each book can be read as a standalone. I personally haven't read any of the other books and didn't feel like it made a difference. However, if you have read the other books, I feel like you may see a snippit of some previous characters. After enjoying this particular book so much, I am going to add the rest of these to my list for when I get caught up.

The Sun Queen is about Romina Hart. She grew up rough and her goal in life was to make a difference. She wanted to help others. Becoming a Watcher was supposed to do that for her. She worked hard and was finally where she wanted to be. Due to circumstances that I won't mention, she ends up in The Hunt. The trials that will determine the True Queen of Regulus. It is during this competition that we learn who Romina really is and I think she does too. It was really heartwarming to see her grow as a character.

Romina has help during her journey. We have Leander, Tyson, Stryker and we also have Imani. Our three men couldn't be more different if they tried. They all want to see Mina succeed though and that's what brings them all together. Imani quickly becomes a friend and someone who you will come to love just as much as Mina does. I was rooting for her all the way.

As always I don't want to give you any spoilers. I will tell you that going in, I had no idea what this book was really going to be about but I was captivated from the very beginning. The story was intense and had me needing to know what was going to happen next. It has everything you could possibly want. We of course have our romance. We have our hot sexy times, our romantic swoon worthy moments and some moments that make you want to scream at them. We have a lot of action and some twists in there. Definitely some suspense and moments that make you hold your chest to make sure your heart is still working right. The best thing about a standalone, we have an ending that couldn't be any more perfect. Great job by Anita with this one.

Taking a Break

Taking a break Hello! I randomly decided to come on here today and it looks like someone actually does visit this site on occasion. I feel like I owe it to you to let you know that I won't be posting any new reviews for a while. I've been really burnt out on reading for a while now and while I do still read every now and again, I just don't have the same passion about it. When I write a review for the blog, I feel it has to be more in depth and informative and I just don't have that in me right now. Also, the book world just disappoints me sometimes and I don't feel like I'm in the head space to give it my all. Anywho, if you are reading this, thank you for being around and supporting me for however long you've been here. I appreciate you. Maybe one day I will get back into it and start reading and reviewing again. In the meantime, I do still review the books I read on Amazon and Goodreads .

Merciless Spy by Heather Long

Merciless Spy, (82 Street Vandals) Heather Long ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazon / Goodreads Blurb: The fierce twin. The dark brother. The wild one. I don’t give a damn about labels. I never have. Not when it comes to me. But stay the hell away from my brothers. All of them. I’ve sacrificed a lot for them, and I’m more than willing to give a lot more. If my blood, sweat, tears, and life were needed, I’d give it all up. Every damn drop. For my brothers, there was nothing I wouldn’t lose. Until her. Reckless, ferocious, and seemingly born to match me in temperament and spirit, Hellspawn is not the fragile flower they all think she is. I don’t think she ever has been. She will not be left behind, she will not hide, and she will not take the crap that life has been throwing at her. She’s saved our lives, defended us, fought for us, and sacrificed herself for us. I have no questions about what she would do if they tried to leverage us against her. This is why I won’t allow anyone to put her to t...

Reckless Thief by Heather Long

Reckless Thief, (82 Street Vandals) Heather Long ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazon / Goodreads Blurb: The mentor. The doctor. The Vandal. I grew up on the streets despite my older sister’s best efforts to keep my nose clean. I thought I knew better. I worked hard. and made money. Who cared if what I did was a little illegal? Then a little boy paid the price for my carelessness. A little boy and his baby sister. It was the wakeup call I needed, even if the cost came too high. Rough choices made for rough outcomes and when I had the chance to join the military or go to jail to get straight, I went to the military. I paid for my thoughtless actions by becoming deliberate. I paid for my greed by offering service. I paid for my chance at a better life with blood, sweat, and fire. That service left me scarred but determined. Medical school and training taught me I could continue to serve. I walked away from the streets, from the blood, the violence, and costs of doing business. Living a life I ...
