Jax by E.M. Moore

Jax (The Heights Saga)
E.M. Moore
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Blurb:

I had real love once. The all-consuming, toe-curling kind of love. Fate had other plans for the two of us though. Ruled by a world of dangerous men, I did something reprehensible. I did what I needed to survive. I betrayed Jax—the only man who ever truly cared whether I lived or died. Years later, I remain a brokenhearted plaything. A puppet to maneuver around a chess board. Psycho uses my body, my face, my skills to get him exactly what he wants. I’m the predator no one sees coming. And my next job is to come face-to-face with him again. My Jax. Once Psycho gets something in his head, he won’t let up. What he wants next is what Jax has, and he’ll do anything to get it. Including using me in any way he can. Now, I have to make a choice between my safety and my conscience. My life…and my heart. But there’s one thing I know for sure: my second chance is the most treacherous game I’ve played. JAX is a full-length m/f dark romance standalone in the Heights Crew world.

Jax is the second book in The Heights Saga but can be read as a standalone. I wouldn't recommend that b/c the entire series (The Heights Crew and The Heights Saga) are amazing books and you want to be fully immersed in it all.

So quick run down of the book. We met Jax in THC and we easily fell for our surly, badass good guy. We could tell his story was going to be a complicated one and boy was it. Jax fell in love with a girl. A girl mixed up in a dark world. A girl that wrecked him. He never knew betrayal could hurt so bad and mess him up for so long. It changed him. So when she shows back up in his life, he is thrown for a loop. How can you hate someone so much and yet, care so deeply.

Sadie is our lady here and I really thought that with as much as I loved Jax, I was going to have a hard time liking her. I mean, she freaking broke our boy. Her story though, it was dark and twisted and oh man.

So I don't want to delve any more into the actual story. I do want to warn you though, it gets dark. Sadie does not have an easy time of things and there are some details that could be a trigger for some. This is the darkest book that E.M. has written as of yet. One of my favorite things about this book is Sadie's growth as a character and as a human. She's been through some shit. She's done some things, some dark dark things. Without giving too much away, let's just say that in the end, she takes the hard road. I love that she owns up to it all and doesn't take the easy way out.

So let's just take a moment here to say that E.M. Moore is a freaking fantastic author. Every time I pick up one of her books to read I am reminded of just how amazing she is. With Jax, she upped the bar even more. I have held strong to the Ballers being my favorite but I think Jax just smushed them. I can't wait to see what she does with our boy Cole.

Kingdom Fall, A Zavarelli

Kingdom Fall, (Underworld Kings) A Zavarelli ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazon / Goodreads Blurb: I was a nanny in need of a job. He was darkness personified. I had little to call my own. He was filthy rich, powerful, and dangerous. The assignment was simple, and my goal was too. Take care of his son. Keep my head down. When he least expects it, destroy him. It should have been easy. I thought it would be until I looked into his stark blue eyes. Kissing the enemy is a bad idea, but so is falling in love with him. He doesn’t know my crumbling foundation is built on lies. When he discovers the truth, I’ll find out if he’s as brutal as I believe. I came here to steal his life. I didn’t count on him stealing my heart. Kingdom Fall is part of the Underworld Kings series. If you read the Society Trilogy then you already know a little about the world this series is set in but you don't have to read that trilogy to read this book. In this book we have Alessio and Natalia. Alessio is a Sovereign Son in IVI....

Taking a Break

Taking a break Hello! I randomly decided to come on here today and it looks like someone actually does visit this site on occasion. I feel like I owe it to you to let you know that I won't be posting any new reviews for a while. I've been really burnt out on reading for a while now and while I do still read every now and again, I just don't have the same passion about it. When I write a review for the blog, I feel it has to be more in depth and informative and I just don't have that in me right now. Also, the book world just disappoints me sometimes and I don't feel like I'm in the head space to give it my all. Anywho, if you are reading this, thank you for being around and supporting me for however long you've been here. I appreciate you. Maybe one day I will get back into it and start reading and reviewing again. In the meantime, I do still review the books I read on Amazon and Goodreads .

Vengeful Rotten Casualties by Lucy Smoke

Vengeful Rotten Casualties, (Sick Boys) Lucy Smoke ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazon / Goodreads I sold my soul to the devil only to turn around and slit his throat… Thomas Kincaid took everything from me. My mother. My hopes. My innocence. Now, it’s my turn. He thought he was safe. They all did. They were wrong. Men always think they can take without ever having to deal with the consequences.
