Defiance and Dedication, Heather Long

Defiance and Dedication, (Untouchable)
Heather Long
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

 Blurb:
Autumn in New York promises a turn in the seasons as we kick off the next stage of our lives. Colorful leaves falling, dropping temperatures, and the first days of classes loom even as the lingering summer heat and humidity make the city stifling. Summer was a time to get away, to just be us, and what a magical time it was, but we can only run away from our lives for so long. We have family, careers, friends—new and old—as well as commitments waiting for us. With a new place to call our own in a new city I’m already half-in-love with, we’re not afraid of the challenges ahead. Of course, not everyone is rooting for us, not everyone wants us to succeed, and some choices may come back to haunt us. But don’t come for those I love and expect me to do nothing. They might want to surround me in a layer of protection, but they’re mine and I’m more than willing to fight to keep them. Feel free to test me, I’ve never failed one yet. *Please note this is a reverse harem and the author suggests you always read the forward in her books. Contains some bullying elements, mature situations, and is recommended for 17+. This is the ninth in a series and the story will continue through future books.

Rules and Roses

Heather Long sure does know how to keep you on your toes. She left us hanging in G&G with that tragic cliffy. Then she starts D&D with a beginning that will have you pulling your hair out in worry. Let's not even talk about the end of D&D. Talk about going out with a bang! Just one of the many reasons that we are nine books into this series and still hanging on her every word.

D&D isn't all tragic though. The gang has made it to college. With that comes a whole world of adjustment. That's one of the things that I love about Heather's books. She doesn't fluff it all. There are real problems. Yes, there are the outrageous problems that Frankie seems to keep running into. Gotta have the drama. But we have every day problems as well. Adjusting to a new schedule. Dealing with that many people living together all the time. How to handle jealousy and arguments. Real life. It's what makes these books so easy to relate to. So easy to feel for the characters.

Speaking of characters, this book has some of the best side characters ever. Can you really call them side characters when they play such a key role? First we have Rachel. As always, she's a freaking rock star. Loving her whole part in this book with her new "friend". Then we have Hank. Could we have asked for a better dad for Frankie than Hank? We really get to see their relationship grow in this book and it was just positively beautiful. Hank for the win. We really needed a win for the parents in this series b/c the  majority of them just suck.

There's a lot packed into this ninth book in the series. I could tell you about all of it but you should just read the book. Just be prepared. That ending. Just....wow!

Taking a Break

Taking a break Hello! I randomly decided to come on here today and it looks like someone actually does visit this site on occasion. I feel like I owe it to you to let you know that I won't be posting any new reviews for a while. I've been really burnt out on reading for a while now and while I do still read every now and again, I just don't have the same passion about it. When I write a review for the blog, I feel it has to be more in depth and informative and I just don't have that in me right now. Also, the book world just disappoints me sometimes and I don't feel like I'm in the head space to give it my all. Anywho, if you are reading this, thank you for being around and supporting me for however long you've been here. I appreciate you. Maybe one day I will get back into it and start reading and reviewing again. In the meantime, I do still review the books I read on Amazon and Goodreads .

Reckless Thief by Heather Long

Reckless Thief, (82 Street Vandals) Heather Long ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazon / Goodreads Blurb: The mentor. The doctor. The Vandal. I grew up on the streets despite my older sister’s best efforts to keep my nose clean. I thought I knew better. I worked hard. and made money. Who cared if what I did was a little illegal? Then a little boy paid the price for my carelessness. A little boy and his baby sister. It was the wakeup call I needed, even if the cost came too high. Rough choices made for rough outcomes and when I had the chance to join the military or go to jail to get straight, I went to the military. I paid for my thoughtless actions by becoming deliberate. I paid for my greed by offering service. I paid for my chance at a better life with blood, sweat, and fire. That service left me scarred but determined. Medical school and training taught me I could continue to serve. I walked away from the streets, from the blood, the violence, and costs of doing business. Living a life I ...
