Gunmetal Lily by Rebecca Royce

Gunmetal Lily, (Mafia Wars)
Rebecca Royce
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Blurb:
I was sold to my enemies. There was a deal made to keep the peace. War wasn’t good for business. But deals were broken all the time. What did these powerful families have as collateral? Their daughters. A decade earlier, they decided that we were expendable, that we could be sold in marriage to keep their dealings honest. I didn’t matter more than the security I could bring to the marketplace. I was twelve when they decided that, in ten years, I’d belong to the Hernandez family. Everyone knew what was coming for me. Everyone…except me. I have no choices. The daughter of mobsters, I now belong to the Mexican Cartel. But even the terrible images those words evoke are nothing compared to what is coming for me. My new family will discover I am more than just a pawn in their chess game. I'm named after a flower, but I don't wilt. I am determined to come out ahead in their Mafia Wars. *Gunmetal Lily is a full-length reverse harem novel in the dark and twisted Mafia Wars world * Recommended 18+ due to mature language, adult situations, and sensitive content

Gunmetal Lily is the second book in the Mafia Wars shared world series. In this book we have Lily Moretti, Italian mafia. She is sent off to marry into the Mexican Cartel, Alejandro from the Hernandez family. While Alejandro has had 10 years to come to terms with what his future will be, poor Lily finds out when her brothers throw her on a plane and send her off to be married. What a shock right? Lily handles it with grace though. How else should a mafia princess react? She knows what she has to do for her family.

Alejandro is the eldest brother in the Hernandez family and why he is chosen to be married to Lily. He has known this was coming for ten years and has prepared as much as he could. He truly is a good man and he wants to be fair to Lily. Even if that means he can't let her have the freedom to live her old life like she wants. He has two brothers who live with him, Francisco and Javier. They have their own roles to play in the cartel business. They also have their duties when it comes to Lily. However, they quickly realize what a special person she is and don't mind spending the time with her.

Now as I said before in my review of the first book in this shared world, I actually read Gunmetal Lily first. I was hooked into the story and actually stayed up late into the night to finish. I adored the characters and how the guys, even in such a dark world, could be so caring and compassionate. The past that the Hernandez family has gone through breaks your heart. I love how Lily can come and help them heal. Lily is exactly what you would expect from a Rebecca heroine. She's a little feisty, a little unsure but wants to be able to stand on her own and handle things. I think she does a great job of that. So far this is my favorite of the series and I can't wait to read the rest of the stories.

Taking a Break

Taking a break Hello! I randomly decided to come on here today and it looks like someone actually does visit this site on occasion. I feel like I owe it to you to let you know that I won't be posting any new reviews for a while. I've been really burnt out on reading for a while now and while I do still read every now and again, I just don't have the same passion about it. When I write a review for the blog, I feel it has to be more in depth and informative and I just don't have that in me right now. Also, the book world just disappoints me sometimes and I don't feel like I'm in the head space to give it my all. Anywho, if you are reading this, thank you for being around and supporting me for however long you've been here. I appreciate you. Maybe one day I will get back into it and start reading and reviewing again. In the meantime, I do still review the books I read on Amazon and Goodreads .

Merciless Spy by Heather Long

Merciless Spy, (82 Street Vandals) Heather Long ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazon / Goodreads Blurb: The fierce twin. The dark brother. The wild one. I don’t give a damn about labels. I never have. Not when it comes to me. But stay the hell away from my brothers. All of them. I’ve sacrificed a lot for them, and I’m more than willing to give a lot more. If my blood, sweat, tears, and life were needed, I’d give it all up. Every damn drop. For my brothers, there was nothing I wouldn’t lose. Until her. Reckless, ferocious, and seemingly born to match me in temperament and spirit, Hellspawn is not the fragile flower they all think she is. I don’t think she ever has been. She will not be left behind, she will not hide, and she will not take the crap that life has been throwing at her. She’s saved our lives, defended us, fought for us, and sacrificed herself for us. I have no questions about what she would do if they tried to leverage us against her. This is why I won’t allow anyone to put her to t...

Reckless Thief by Heather Long

Reckless Thief, (82 Street Vandals) Heather Long ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazon / Goodreads Blurb: The mentor. The doctor. The Vandal. I grew up on the streets despite my older sister’s best efforts to keep my nose clean. I thought I knew better. I worked hard. and made money. Who cared if what I did was a little illegal? Then a little boy paid the price for my carelessness. A little boy and his baby sister. It was the wakeup call I needed, even if the cost came too high. Rough choices made for rough outcomes and when I had the chance to join the military or go to jail to get straight, I went to the military. I paid for my thoughtless actions by becoming deliberate. I paid for my greed by offering service. I paid for my chance at a better life with blood, sweat, and fire. That service left me scarred but determined. Medical school and training taught me I could continue to serve. I walked away from the streets, from the blood, the violence, and costs of doing business. Living a life I ...
