Blurb:
Aurora Summers is nothing but baggage.
Beautiful, dangerous, off limits baggage.
The plan was simple: Destroy the girl. Ruin her life. Make her and her mother leave.
Only … she’s not as easy a target as I thought she’d be.
She’s nothing but a pawn, a tool for my father to use against her mother.
But pawns don’t fight back the way she does.
They don’t violate my sanity the way she does.
She put herself in the mouth of the beast.
I wanted her out of the way, but now … I can’t let her go.
*This is a Dark, College, Mafia, Stepbrother, Enemies to Lovers, Forbidden Romance. Icarus retelling/inspired story*
Burn with me is the first book in a duet. Well it's supposed to be a duet but we all know Lucy and these characters could decide otherwise. Either way, this is book one. So first things first. If you have read any of Lucy's more recent books then you already know that Lucy's characters do dark, depraved, fucked up shit. If you think you have seen it all, her characters say hold my beer and take it to a whole other level. So if depraved isn't your thing, don't read this book. Not going to be for you. And that's perfectly ok!! However, if you have loved that darkness that Lucy's characters have brought up to this point, well hold on b/c Isaac is going to try and take home the gold. He doesn't just push the envelope, he lights that bitch on fire.
So quick run down, Aurora's flighty mother marries a new man and moves them to his home out of the blue. Poor Rori right. Well it gets worse. Her new husband is NOT a nice man. He's into some shady shit and since Rori is not having his bullshit, he sets his son to watch her and make sure she doesn't cause any trouble. Isaac has other plans though. He doesn't want Rori or her mother around so he makes it his mission to run her off. Only problem, he becomes obsessed with her. Like for real for real obsessed. With Rori becoming more and more suspicious of her new step dad, Isaac is torn between protecting her and destroying her. Rori wants to believe in Isaac but with her past and trust issues, well she's no dummy.
The back and forth between these two characters is on point! I loved every second of it. They have such chemistry and passion that you can't help but be drawn in to their interactions. Oh my word on the steamy scenes these two get involved in.
Now if you have read the sick boys series, you will see a couple of familiar faces. Always love that. We also get to meet some new side characters to totally fall in love with. Paris and Shep are Isaac's best friends and you are going to want their stories as well.
As always, Lucy has totally knocked this book out of the park. The freaking ending will leave you burning with desire for the next book!!
